Project: One WMU at Regional Comprehensive University

Project Summary: The goal of this project was to redesign the organizational structure at the university to provide more cohesive support for undergraduate students. I co-led this initiative with the Provost & VP of Academic Affairs and successfully organized more than 80 campus stakeholders, who represented three divisions and 55 campus units, on seven working teams to co-create a new vision of student success for the campus. This initiative was grounded in equity and a student-centered theory of change while using design thinking to collaboratively develop recommendations to transform the universities approach to supporting students. The year-long effort of the One WMU committees led to the launch of the University College in 2020, with the new academic college being named, Merze Tate College in 2021.

Project: Nonbargaining Staff Campuswide Survey at Regional Comprehensive University

Project Summary: Created and strategically launched the 2017 staff engagement survey to use data to validate and elevate employee concerns with new university leadership. Cultivated a partnership with the hourly nonbargaining staff group to co-sponsor the survey deployment to strengthen advocacy on behalf of all nonbargaining staff. A multi-pronged marketing campaign was developed to promote the survey. Eligible participants had to request to take the survey. The results - a 72.9% survey response rate representing 35.9% of the overall eligible population. The survey results illuminated the disinvestment in staff professional development and training which resulted in the president allocating $50,000 to staff professional development training and funding a position in human resources devoted to staff development and training.
